(Mid is a Red Wizard, Argus is a Knight, Elia is a White Wizard and Topapa is a Black Wizard.) It came as a shock to everyone except Mid. When the Warriors of Light first met the Crescent Sages, Mid had forgotten his sword in the forest. When he had found it, an extremely old sage, with wrinkles beyond counting suddenly appeared behind him. “Light Warrior,” he said. Mid jumped. “What?” “I am Lukahn. My fellow sages and I have seen something, just recently. This vision regards matters of great importance.” “If it’s has to do with the invention of microwaveable tacos, I don’t want to hear it”, Mid retorted. “No, it is concerning the Four Fiends. We sages have come to believe that there is an entity controlling the four fiends, an entity that exists in the past and present”. Mid thought for a moment. “Time? Ummm…Space?? Uhh… Let me think…Non-perishable food???” Another sage stepped forward. “We do not know the being’s identity, only that you must journey into the past to stop him, for he has already been stopped.” “Huh???” Another sage revealed himself. “The only thing we are entirely sure of, if you journey into the past, the present will be changed.” By now, Mid’s head was spinning. The other nine sages came forth, and they said in unison “We see a war, a revelation, a secret, a kidnapping, another journey to be completed, another prophecy to be fulfilled.” When Mid, Argus, Elia, and Topapa arrived in Cornelia on their airship they saw a war. War was the only description for the horrible scene unfolding below them. Goblins upon Goblins, and Ogres on top of Ogres were massacring the army of Cornelia. The Goblin King was riding a massive Wyrm, which was killing Knights and Wizards left and right, and looked bored to boot. The Ogre High Chief was yelling out taunts to his opponents, and forming craters whenever his hulking figure swung his massive spiked club onto a retreating victim. “Lukahn was right. The journey into the past changed the future. I do see a war…SARA! I have to save Sara!” “Mid!” Argus yelled. “What’s happening down there, to Cornelia, to our world?!” Mid didn’t hear Argus’s demand. He still was trying to register the gruesome sight below him in his head. Argus rushed over and grabbed Mid’s cloak holding him in the air. “Answer me!” Just then Mid realized what was happening below him, and still in a daze closed his mouth, looked down at Argus and saw Garland, as he first saw him with the Cornelian princess Sara unconscious behind him. His eyes focused on the vision of Sara, then Garland. “Spellaga, Castaga, THUNDAGA!!!” Mid shouted as he raised his sword high in the air. A blue aurora shone bright around him for a moment, then vanished. “YEEAAGGHH!!!” Argus yelled as he released Mid. His hands were severely burned and blood was oozing from various spots. Dark clouds lined the sky, and flashes of light shone brightly in the distance. At that moment Mid saw reality. “What have I done?!” he yelled. “What have I done?! What have I done?! What have I do-“, and at that, Mid lost consciousness and hit the ground with a thud. The flashes grew closer, and it began to rain. Argus’s bright red hair stood on end and rain sizzled and popped when it hit him. Topapa said to Elia, “Not even Spine, the greatest black Wizard of all time could cast a Thundaga Spell as powerful as this! How did Mid do it?!” “I think we should take cover before we think about that!!!” Elia shouted above the wind. They looked around, and then dove behind a few barrels. Argus lay sprawled looking up at the sky, terrified. “MID YOU IDIOT!!!” The rain stopped abruptly. The battle below paused. Everyone and everything was watching the sky above. With a look of sheer terror upon his face, the Knight held his breath, and shut his eyes tightly. The sky above him parted, and the small opening seemed to be following the airship’s movement. A bright, yellowish-blue column fell from the sky like a smith’s hammer pounding its way toward and anvil. The column hit Argus with a loud crack and he gave out a scream of pure pain that could be heard from Castle Cornelia all the way to Gaia. The propellers of the airship exploded, and the masts fell onto the deck, turning the ship into splinters. The amazing work of machinery came crashing to the ground in a plume of smoke. Argus saw Elia and Topapa rushing toward him. He saw their mouths move but didn’t hear any words. He saw Mid crawling toward him. He was face was covered in blood, and his left arm, though still attached, was helplessly being dragged behind him. Splinters covered his back. One of the masts must have hit him. In an effort beyond measure he whispered to Argus “I’m sorry… I saw Garland… Sara… Thought you were… I’m sorry…” Then he breathed his last breath, and died. It was the only thing Argus heard as the airship crashed to the ground. Before the ship was seized by Goblins and Ogres, Argus said “Mid… I forgive you…” Then died. Add to Digg |
