Auron accompanied High Summoner Braska on his journey to obtain the Final Aeon and also knows Tidus. How is this possible? As a guardian, he is very strong and his default sphere grid path focuses heavily on strength and HP. He is wise, rough around the edges, but kind of heart. Auron is one of the oldest characters in the FFX party. Tidus does not know anything of Auron's past... only that Auron cared for him when his mother passed away. The player learns of his past little by little and just how strongly it is linked with the never ending battle against Sin.
He appears in Tidus' Zanarkand just as Sin attacks and gives Tidus his father's sword. They are both transported to Spira. Auron seems to be a guide not only for Yuna and Tidus, but for the player as well - we learn more about Spira, Zanarkand, etc. through his guidance and wisdom. His look is one of an experienced fighter, with a prominent scar over his right eye. He has an unusual stance, with his left arm seemingly hidden in a sling. He wields a heavy two handed sword that can cut almost anything and is slower than characters such as Tidus... but his power and strength makes up for this.
His abilities in battle are called Breaks, which can weaken the defence of enemies. Auron's Overdrive can be a bit tricky to perform as the player has to input certain sequences of buttons within a given time for Auron to maximize his attack.
