A Blitzballer for the Zanarkand Abes. His name has spawned numerous debates regarding how it is pronounce. Interestingly in Japanese it is pronounced "Tiida" and in the Okinawa dialect means "Sun". His father, Jecht, was a legend of the Blitzball game. During the spectacle at the beginning of the game, he finds himself transported into Spira - a new world he must adjust to.
He seems optimistic and joyful, and his personality and attitude are reflected in his loud choice of clothes. He wears the logo of his Blitzball team around his neck and on his trousers. Tidus' default weapon is a Long Sword which over the course of the game he will improve upon and change.
When performing his Overdrive, a small meter appears and the player must hit the button at the right moment to make the attack that much stronger. Numerous Overdrives can be learned easily, as Tidus learns based on how often you use specific Overdrives.
