Chocobo Breeding to be added to Final Fantasy XI

Awhile back, Square-Enix announced that the FFXI: Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion pack would eventually receive and update that would allow players to breed their own chocobos. On Monday, Square Enix made an announcement that more than 250 accounts were permanently suspended for violating the user agreement by using unauthorized third-party software tools for the purposes of gil-farming. The first version update for the Final Fantasy XI: Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion, scheduled to take place in mid-July, was reported a while back to let players breed and raise their own chocobo. More details on chocobo raising have now been posted on the official Final Fantasy XI website.

According to Japan's Nikkei Net (via IGN) and also the website Joystiq, Square Enix is working on a sequel to Final Fantasy XI. Joystiq reports that the upcoming MMORPG is being developed for PC (Vista), PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

Japan's Nikkei Net news service ran a story yesterday containing what appeared to be the first confirmation of a sequel to Final Fantasy XI. According to the site, Square Enix is developing a true sequel to FFXI to be released on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Vista formats.
