Two powerful kingdoms of Ivalice are locked in a bitter conflict. The animosity between Rosaria and Arcadia has raged unchecked for years. After so many years of war, the two kingdoms have finally come to an impasse wherein neither has the upper hand, nor can either advance to gain it.
The Kingdom of Dalmasca, situated in a strategically valuable location between the two enemies, is the key to victory. In this small kingdom, a young man desperate for adventure is about to embark on a journey that will make his dreams a reality. His decision is made, and he will set out to discover his own freedom in the skies over Ivalice.

Final Fantasy XII was released in March 2006 in Japan. It hit the streets in the U.S. just in time for Halloween on October 31, 2006. The U.S. version was available in both Regular and Collector's Editions, the Collector's Edition being packaged in a collectible metal case containing an artbook and bonus DVD.
The game features a revamped battle system more closely resembling an online MMORPG-style battle than classic Final Fantasy battle. Final Fantasy XII was only the sixth game to ever receive a perfect score of 40/40 in the popular Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu and has been a great success for Square Enix since it's release.
