In Final Fantasy 6, The Empire is reviving the mysterious power of "magic", unseen and dormant for more than a millenium. A young girl named Terra, enslaved and controled by the Empire's technology for her talents in the ancient art, escapes her bondage and finds new friends in the Returners, a rebel group working against the Empire that must advance.
But when a power hungry general named Kefka overthrows the emperor and unleashes the End of the World, Terra and her friends are separated and scattered across the remains of the once-great civilization. In Final Fantasy VI, they must regroup and fight for freedom from Kefka's tyranny, and for their very right to live.
Released in 1994 for Super Nintendo, the Final Fantasy VI game was the third in the series to be released in North America. As such, the title was changed for overseas audiences, and the game was branded Final Fantasy 3. Final Fantasy 6 was later rereleased in 1999 on Sony Playstation, under its original title, and included updated CG video of scenes from the game.
The Final Fantasy 6 rerelease occurred in the bundle titled [i]Final Fantasy Anthology[/i], which also contained a rerelease of another of Square's popular Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy 5 which had not previously been released in North America.
