Episode 1

Those that Lurk in the Night

Mission 1

As a new Turk trainee, the player received orders from Tseng to patrol Sector Eight. It was supposed to be simple mission meant to let them get used to their work. But a simple training mission just wasn't in the cards tonight... While patrolling Sector Eight, the player came across members of the anti-Shinra rebel group, Avalanche.

Overhearing some suspicious talk, the player moved in closer to find out what was going on. Unfortunately, he was spotted and forced to defend himself from the rebels. Reporting in to Tseng, the player was then ordered to investigate further, and find out what these rebels were up to.

Meanwhile, Tseng reported to Veld, leader of the Turks, informing him that some men in Sector Eight seemed to be planning some kind of attack against Shinra. Uncomfortable with letting a rookie handle this potentially serious situation on his own, Veld immediately ordered Tseng to send in some backup, to keep the rookie out of trouble.

Mission 2

Tseng phoned the player, telling him to capture and interrogate any of the rebels he came across. However, when the player finally does find the men he's searching for, he quickly realizes that he is outnumbered. Tseng informs Veld of the situation, and notifies the other Turks in are to go and help out. Eventually, the player overcomes his opponents.

Mission 3

When the rebels suddenly blast their way into the tunnels leading to the Mako Reactors, things take a turn for the worst. Realizing that the company's greatest asset is in danger, Veld and Tseng order the player to stop the rebels by any means necessary. But the player soons finds himself in a six-on-one battle preventing him from going after the rebels already on their way to the reactor.

Fortunately, Reno's timing is impeccable, and his presence evens up the odds a bit. Still outnumbered, and with more rebel reinforcements coming at them, Reno ordered the player to go on ahead and stop the men in the reactor before it's too late.

Mission 4

While Reno battled the Avalanche forces outside, the player tracked down the rest of the rebels, who were busy setting explosives inside the reactor. Once defeated, the members of Avalanche retreated back to the slums, and the player disarmed their bombs. Reporting in to Tseng, the player was ordered to return to Shirna headquarters with Reno.

Mission 5

Outside of the reactor, Reno was facing off against Sears... and losing. Reno ordered the player to run for it, just before Sears took him down and then turned on the player. Realizing that he's vastly outclassed in this battle and that his backup is down for the count, the player tried not to panic. Fortunately, a second member of Avalanche arrive before Sears could attack, informing him that Fuhito had ordered the rebel forces to Junon as soon as possible.

Sears left the battle in the hands of the Avalanche messenger. The odds being much more in his favor now, the player defeated the rebel, and he and Reno returned to headquarters.

Upon their arrival, Tseng quickly delivered the information they'd gathered to Veld. When he learned that the rebels were heading for Junon, he became concerned... the President of Shinra was in Junon to give a speech.

At Avalanche headquarters, Fuhito and his men were discussing their plans for Junon. Fuhito is especially concerned that they have not been able to locate Sephiroth, proclaiming that if Shinra decided to bring the famous soldier in, all of their plans would have been in vain. At last, Fuhito ordered them to move out.

Meanwhile, back at Shinra headquarters, Veld ordered Reno and the player to go to Junon as well.
