Elena
The younger sister of the Playable Character Gun (Female). Elena is a student in Shinra Military Academy, where her father is an instructor. Though she is devoted to her studies, she and her sister do not get along, due largely to Elena's jealousy over being outdone. Because of her dislike for her sibling, she also despises the Turks.
Tifa
A skilled young woman who lives in Nibelheim. She and Cloud Strife grew up next door to one another, though they were never very close friends. She learned martial arts from a traveling instructor named Zangan and later became a tour guide for visitors who came to Nibelheim to explore the mountains near the town.
Shalua Rui
A young woman who despises Shinra. When she was younger, Shinra kidnapped her younger sister in an attempt to persuede her to become a SOLDIER. She refused their demands, and as since been searching for a way to rescue her sister from their clutches.
Cid Highwind
Cid Highwind is a Shinra pilot. His greatest dream is to be the first man to go into space, and for a time it seems that he will get his wish. Unfortunately, and accident during the launch of Shinra's first rocket dashed those dreams, and resulted in a loss of funding for the space program.
Barret Wallace
A coal-miner from the town of Corel. Barret lives with his wife, and is an advocate of the use of Mako energy. He is strongly in favor of Shinra's plans to built a reactor near the town.
Yuffie Kisaragi
A young female ninja from Wutai. Yuffie is the daughter of of Wutai's leader, Godo. Though she is only 10 years old, she has a strong hatred for both Avalanche and ShinRa, blaming them for the decay of Wutai.
Aeris Gainsborough
The last decendent of the Cetra. Aeris is the daughter of Professor Gast and the last full-blooded Cetra, Ifalna. When Aeris was only 20 days old, Professor Hojo had Gast killed, and Aerith and her mother captured for experimentation. Seven years later, the two escaped to the slums of Midgar, but Ifalna died soon after, leaving her daughter with a woman named Elmyra Gainsborough. Since her escape, the Turks have been keeping an eye on her, trying to convince her to return to Shinra willingly.
