Yuffie is the daughter of Godo, the leader of Wutai. Three years ago, she became involved in the fight against Sephiroth and again came to the aid of Cloud Strife a year ago.
A ninja with a bad case of airsickness, Yuffie's goal in life was to restore the former glory of her homeland. Following it's defeat by Shinra during the Meaningless War, Wutai has become little more than a tourist attraction, a far cry from it's noble warrior heritage. Since Sephiroth's defeat, Yuffie has become actively involved with the WRO, doing intelligence and scouting work for them.
While poking around Nibelheim, Yuffie came across Vincent Valentine. Having been attacked by Rosso the Crimson, Vincent was badly injured. Yuffie came to his rescue moment before Rosso was about to finish him off... but not before the psychotic Deepground soldier had ripped the Protomateria from his chest. After getting Vincent safely away from Rosso, Yuffie watched over him until he regains consciousness.
As Vincent and the WRO learn more and more about Deepground, and develop a plan of attack, Yuffie involves herself directly in the cause, entering the mako reactors of Midgar to help shut them down.
