A cutscene of Vincent speaking to Lucrecia encased in materia plays, and we hear Lucrecia say "I'm so sorry". Then, a flashback to Hojo shooting Vincent in cold blood in the Shinra Mansion, complete with maniacal laughter and ranting. Vincent relieves some of his worst memories before finally waking up in Shalua's lab at the WRO headquarters. She reveals to him that Chaos went wild before he collapsed, and we hear a bit about Lucrecia and Chaos before Reeve arrives.
Meanwhile, Shelke has tracked Vincent to WRO's headquarters, and Deepground prepares to attack.
Back at WRO headquarters, Reeve, Shalua, and Vincent discuss the Tsviets, Omega, and the Protomateria. But just as they seem to be making some progress, an alarm sounds. The headquarters is under seige, Azul the Cerulean leading the charge. WRO headquarters goes into lockdown, but Azul forces his way in. Vincent hurries to help, while Shalua catches sight of Shelke on a video monitor and runs off for reasons unknown...
When you regain control of Vincent, you'll be in the middle of a chaotic gun battle. I recommend using either the hangun with Long Barrel equipped, or the rifle. Have the machine-gun set to your third weapon. It's useful against the guys with rocket launchers. The
The "Assist the WRO members!" Stage Mission starts automatically. Take out the Deepground soldiers on the floor, and the ones shooting at you from the second level. There's a Mako Point across the room, and two crates containing ammo on this floor. There's also a Shop Kiosk in the corner to your left, so pick up any supplies you need, and then head for the stairs.
The soldier will run out at the top of the stairs when you're about mid-way up. Shoot him, and when you reach the second level, head to the right. Get the ammo in the crates, and then head back to the stairs and take the left path. As you round the corner, three soldiers on the third level bridge will catch sight of you and start shooting. Take them out and keep going.
Three more soldiers will attack at the next corner. Kill them and move on past the stairs leading up to level three. One last soldier will make an attempt on you. Kill him and pick up the Card Key he drops. You can also shoot the crate at the end of the path for a Red Potion. Turn around and head back the stairs you just passed. Use the Card Key on the Laser Gate and go up.
Help out the WRO by taking out the two soldiers on the bridge, and shoot the guy with the rocket launcher on the fourth level, to your left. Follow the WRO soldiers and open the door they are standing near for a limit breaker, rifle bullets, and another Shop Kiosk. Head out the door at the end of the path, and go to your left, to the next door. Kill the soldiers on the other side of the Laser Gate that come after you, then go through the door. Kill the soldier in here, and exit through the door at the end, and you will find yourself on the other side of the Laser Gate that was blocking your path (grab any items the soldiers dropped while you're over here).
Head to the left, for a potion and a Mako Point, and then turn around and go up the stairs to level four. Turn to your right to see two WROs running from two Deepgrounds. Kill the enemies, and follow the the path around the level. You'll come to some more WROs in a firefight. Kill the enemies, but DO NOT shoot the explodable barrel, or else you'll kill the WRO members, too.
Run to the end of the path and kill the two Deepgrounds that have a WRO member pinned down. One of them will drop a Card Key for you, so grab it and head for the stairs to level five. As you cross the gate, a cutscene with Shalua will occur, and you get to see her kick some Deepground butt.
Go up the stairs and head to the end of the path, to find some soldiers and an elevator. Two will get away with your ride, but if you're quick, you can shoot the other one before he boards the elevator. That done, turn around and go around the level directly opposite the elevator and aim down at the fourth level. Snipe the guys that got away just a moment ago, and go back down the stairs to level four. Head to the elevator.
A soldier and a rocket launcher guy will hop out. Shoot them, and the sniper on the other side of the elevator. One of them will drop the Gravity Floater accessory. Grab it and get in the elevator, and push the button to go up.
Back on level five, exit to the right, and and target the exploding barrel next to the mounted machine-gun in front of you. If you're quick, you can kill the gunner before he starts firing. Head through the door for a cutscene. A WRO member tells you that enemies are heading for the command center. This triggers the "Hurry to the Command Center!" Stage Mission. This part is pretty much just point and shoot... just follow the green arrows on the wall. The faster you do it, the better you score on the stage mission. When you get to the command center, Reeve and Cait Sith will show up and warn you that Azul is still on the loose.
Head back the way you came and leave the room. Hit the Mako Point on your way out. Another cutscene will show Azul on the ground floor, exiting through a previously locked door. Before you go back down, there are two more things to do on this level. First, go back to the elevator, stand next to it and aim at the glass skylight on the far side of the room with your Sniper Scope. You should see MEMORY CAPSULE #1.
Next, run through the elevator to the other side of level five, and walk around to the unlocked door on that side near the blocked-off stairs. You can grab the limit breaker to your left, and then head around to the right, killing the soldiers along the way. Exit through the door at the end, grab the ether and then run over to the mounted machine gun. Sitting down at it will trigger this stage's last Stage Mission, "Swiftly eliminate the reinforcement squad!". It's a pretty easy one... shoot all the bad guys as fast as you can.
When you're done, double back to the elevator and ride it down to the ground floor.
Stop at the Shop Kiosk if you need supplies, then head through the door Azul went through. Help out the two WRO members by the stairs, and grab the ammo and limit breaker, then head down. Follow the path, and shoot the Deepground soldiers that run by. One of them will drop the Power Cross accessory, and another will drop a Card Key. Turn around and face the dead end to the west. MEMORY CAPSULE #2 is lodged next to a pipe on the wall. Hit the Mako Point at the end of the side hall, then use the Card Key on the Laser Gate.
Shoot the soldiers, but avoid the explodable barrel. When the soldiers are dead move forward to lure the robotic barricades forward. When they're close enough, hit the barrel to destroy the, quickly. You can also take them out with melee attacks (or, if you can get behind them, gunshots), but you'll take less damage if you just blow them up.
Do the same with the next group (though here, you may have to lure the barricades forward and then hit the soldiers, if you can't get a clear shot) and pick up the Card Key they drop. Use it on the Laser Gate and keep going. More soldiers, more barricades, and another Card Key. At least this time the WRO backs you up a little. If you look up at the black pipe running along the left side of the ceiling just before you turn the corner, you'll find MEMORY CAPSULE #3. Grab the Card Key, and shut down the next Laser Gate. Before you move on, there is a door to your right that can be opened. Go inside for another Mako Point.
Before you open the door at the end of the hall, look up at the pipe near the ceiling on your right. Just above the stack of boxes is MEMORY CAPSULE #4. Open the door, and you'll see a Shop Kiosk and another door. When you open it, the game will auto-save. If you haven't figured out what that means yet, you haven't been paying attention.
------ Boss Battle ------
Boss: Shelke the Transparent
Vincent enters the room to find Shalua pointing a gun at him... or is she? Shelke suddenly appears behind him, impressed that Shalua saw through her invisibility. We learn some interesting info abut Shelke, and then the battle begins.
Shelke is quick... and she can be tough if your aim isn't that great. They easiest way to beat her is to use a limit breaker and blast her with the Galian Beast's energy blasts, as they will knock her down so she can't attack you.
-------------------------
Once Shelke is beaten, Vincent will sedate her with Reeve's bullets, and Shalua will take her. Heal, and stop at the Shop Kiosk if you need to, then get ready for another boss battle... This time against Azul.
------ Boss Battle ------
Boss: Azul the Cerulean
As bosses go, Azul isn't half as tough as he looks. As soon as the battle begins, back up and take cover behind one of the room's pillars. There are exploding barrels all around the room (and more stacked against the walls that you can knock down onto the field by shooting the topmost barrel on the stack) that do great damage to Azul. Just blow them up when he gets close enough.
Sometimes he'll hit the ground, sending out a shockwave that will knock Vincent down and damage him. When you seen this coming, immediately double jump to avoid it. If you're quick shooting the barrels, you can actually beat Azul without ever hitting him with a bullet.
-------------------------
Azul goes down hard... and Vincent decides it's time to do some investigating of his own. Despite Reeve's warning that Nibelheim is crawling with Deepground, Vincent is determined to go, in order to gather information about Lucrecia. Reeve tells him that the only way he's going to get inside Shinra Manor is via the sewers. Vincent heads off, and Reeve moves forward with his own intelligence gathering.
