The first thing you want to do here, is turn around and look in the low tunnel to get MEMORY CAPSULE #1.

Then go forward for a cutscene, which will trigger the "Eliminate the Sahagin!" Stage Mission. Kill the ugly turtle-men. Grab the items in the alcoves along the sides of the tunnel and proceed to the first laser gate. Hmm... no Card Key. Well that's not a problem... climb up the ladder to your right. Run across the ledge and hit the Mako Point, then drop down to the other side of the Laser Gate.

Figh the sahagin in this chamber, and pick up the Card Key they drop to shut down the next gate. Watch out for the sahagin that runs out as you round the corner. In the next chamber, hit the exploding barrel to take out two more sahagin. There's another one hiding in a crate at the end of the small side tunnel.

Take out three more in the next chamber, then climb up the ladder to the large tunnel and shoot two more. There's a limit breaker and 1000 gil up here as well, and a Mako Point on the lower ledge. While you're stading on the higher ledge, turn around and face north and you'll see MEMORY CAPSULE #2 on a pipe near the ceiling.

Head into the small side area for two more crates to shoot, and another sahagin. Continue down the path until you get to a point where you have a choice between going left or right. Go left first and grab the Blizzard Materia at the top of the incline, but don't drop down or you'll have to circle back around again. Turn around and take the right path now.

Shoot the sahagin on the other side of the bars to your right, then continue on. Shoot the one ahead of you for a Card Key, and watch out for the one sneaking up behind you. Go through the small alcove opposite the Laser Gate and up the ladder for another Mako Point, then keep going to reach the upper level of the next chamber. Kill the three sahagin on the level, and push the button to open the gate. Double back to the Laser Gate and shut it down with the Card Key.

Go through and the gate will turn back on. Uh oh...

A group of sahagin will attack. Finish them off for another Card Key, and unlock the gate at the end of the tunnel to collect 2500 gil. Before you leave, make sure you get MEMORY CAPSULE #3. It's in a hole in the ceiling in the middle of the tunnel.

Follow the path until you come to an open metal gate. Go through and kill the sahagin in the lower section of the chamber you were in earlier, then go back out to the main path (or push the button on the central pillar and open the gate for a fairly useless "shortcut"). There's another sahagin hiding in an alcove along the main path, so kill him and you're home free. Run to the end of the path and climb up the ladder. Welcome to Shinra Manor.

As soon as you climb up, you'll see a guard. Luckily, he won't see you. Shoot him in the back.

Too bad Vincent's weapon doesn't have a silencer. Your shots have alerted the other soldiers in the room. Be careful, because the ones on the upper level just love to snipe you when you least expect it. Stay under the cover of the walkway, and go around to your left to take out the two guards by the elevator. Standing in front of the elevator, you should have a clear shot at one of the guys on the upper section. The second guy might give you some trouble. He likes to run around and duck behind the metal railing so you can't shoot him. Either lure him into a clear shot, or jump in the elevator and take him out on his own level.

Once the room is clear, head to the northeastern corner of the room, where you'll find a sliding door propped half-open. Before you do anything, switch to your rifle and zoom in with the Sniper Scope on the platform on the right side to get MEMORY CAPSULE #4.

Optionally, you can crouch and crawl through... but be careful, because this room is full of snipers, and no matter how many you kill, they just keep coming. One of the items you can nab in here is the power booster accessory, which almost makes the inevitable HP loss worth it, as it makes your shots do more damage. If you're going to make a go of it... get in and get out. Don't bother trying to shoot your attackers.

Now it's time to head upstairs. Get in the elevator and ride it to the second level. Head down the stairs to the southwest to find a soldier and a Shop Kiosk. There is also a Mako Point behind the elevator. Get back in the elevator and ride it up to the next floor. Follow the path into a room with a bridge.

It seems that Deepground wants to use you in there own personal shooting gallery. The room will seal off, and large doors on one side of the room will open up. Deepground will appear and try to shoot you... so I suppose you'd better shot back. Once you eliminate the enemies on one side, the door will close, and the other side of the room will open, so turn around keep shooting. Use the boxes on the bridge as cover, and look out for the rocket launchers.

When you're done, the room will unseal, and you can head up the stairs. Hop in the elevator, and another cutscene will occur as Vincent relives more memories of Lucrecia. And now, Vincent gets a little break, as we see what Reeve is up to. From here, you'll be in control of Cait Sith for a little while.

Cait is a lousy fighter... so he relies on stealth to complete his mission. The object here is not to be seen. In other words, it's time for the "Sneak by the DG soldiers!" Stage Mission. There's nothing to the left but a dead end, so head right.

You'll see a Deepground soldier patroling the area. As soon as he's facing away from you, run to the crate in the middle of the walkway and stand behind it. As the soldier comes back, move around to the left to stay out of his line of sight. Jump off the ledge at the end of the walkway and land on the pipe. Don't worry if you miss the pipe... just climb up the ladder to the next platform. When it's clear, run for the crate and hide until the two soldiers are facing away from you, then follow the one on the left and duck behind the next crate before he sees you.

A quick cutscene will show you where your goal is. Stand at the top of the ladder until the soldier below you turns away, and then jump down and dash to the left before he turns back. Another cutscene tells you to do the obvious. As soon as the guard isn't looking run forward and blow him up with the barrel. Apparently, these guys aren't real observant, because none of the other guards notice the explosion or the guard's screams.

Round the corner and make sure the guard a ways down to your left isn't looking, and push the second barrel into the guard in front of you. Run across, and head up and over the crates to reach your goal. You'll see a brief cutscene of one of the transport crates from Kalm being moved.

In the next room, make sure the guard to your right isn't looking, then run up the stairs to your left and jump to the other side of the barrel. When the guard is in position below you, push the barrel into him, and head down.

Hide behind the barrel on the walkway. You'll have to run between these next to guards. Wait for one to come around, then run like hell and follow close behind him until you reach the point where you can run down the stairs to the next level. Take the stairs on the left to reach the small tunnel that is your goal. Another cutscene will play, and we meet Nero the Sable for the first time, as well as see that something very large is growing beneath Midgar. Leaving poor Cait Sith to his fate with Nero, the game will Auto-Save and you will now regain control of Vincent back in Shinra Manor.

Run forward and to the right for a Shop Kiosk and a locked door. Since this path is blocked, you'll have to try the other door. Another set of doors... one locked, one unlocked. Guess there's only one way to go. Open the door for a cutscene. It seems that Lucrecia has left you a holographic message. Time for the "Collect the Omega Report files!" Stage Mission. There are four of them in the manor (They'll show up in your inventory as you collect them and you can read them to learn more about Omega and Chaos). And to make it easy, you get the first one just for viewing the cutscene. Sweet!

Once the cutscene is over, you'll be able to grab MEMORY CAPSULE #5 by heading to room on the left, killing the soldiers, and looking under the fallen bookshelf. There's also some ammo in the small side room. Head back out and go through the large metal door (there's nothing in the other small room in here... but check it out anyway if you want). Shoot the enemies and head to the left for a potion, then through the next door and into a hallway.

The door directly across from you, contains a Mako Point and a soldier. Head west down the hallway to the next door. There are two enemies in this room. Kill them and then go all the way to the right, and grab the Omega Report. Enter the next room, and pick up some handgun bullets and a limit breaker, and then go through the second door in that room. You will be back in the hallway. If you turn to the left and look up at the ceiling, you should see MEMORY CAPSULE #6.

If you need to resupply, keep going to the left, to reach the door at the end of the hall and open it to arrive back at the room with the Shop Kiosk. Otherwise, turn to the right and go to the door at the other end of the hallway to move on. Kill the soldiers in the next room, and proceed to the door. You will find yourself in an underground area.

Shoot the crate for a free Phoenix Down. A little ways down, you'll see a door on your left. Go in here to find the Vincent's coffin... and a Deepground soldier who will drop 1000 gil when you kill him. Proceed down the passage, shooting enemies as you go.

eventually, you will enter a chamber that seals itself with Laser Gates, and the (very random) "Deactivate the mines!" Stage Mission will trigger. The mines are invisible on the floor. As you approach, they will begin to beep. I recommend that you move slowly, or you'll end up stepping on them. When you get close enough, the mine will appear, and you must shoot it to deactivate it. BACK UP BEFORE YOU SHOOT... otherwise, you'll blow yourself up. They're not hard to find... it's a small area. Shooting the last one will yeild a Card Key. Use it to deactivate the Laser Gate, and continue down the path.

In the next room, kill the dog-guard down in the pit, then press the button on the left to activate the platform. Get on, and target the exploding barrel on the other side. When the soldier runs out to shoot you, blow him up good. You can also drop down into the pit for a Mako Point. Kill the soliders in the passage, and when you reach the next large chamber, use the exploding barrel to take out the ones waiting for you there. There's a metal door on the left that will lead you to a room with a Shop Kiosk. Keep going through the doors, and you'll find a Mako Point, some ammo, and another limit breaker. The last door will lead you right back to the beginning of the area, so double back and continue down the underground passage.

When you reach the spiral staircase, kill the three guard that ruch out at you, and then the two snipers above you. Two more soldiers will be waiting at the top. Enter the next room and kill more soldiers. Congratulations... you are now in Shinra Manor proper. Exit the room, and pick up the rifle bullets in the next. Go through the door and before you step out into the main area of the house, take the small side passage to the northeast room. Shoot the crate for a free Hi-potion.

Stand on the little table next to one of the windows, and shoot out the lower window panes and look down. You'll see MEMORY CAPSULE #7. Go back to the main room, and snipe the two guys on the ground floor. Two more will run out and come up the steps for you. Kill them. Before you go any farther, look up and to the left at the gaping hole in the ceiling. MEMORY CAPSULE #8 is up there.

Run across the upper level, and enter the room on the left for 1500 gil. The room on the right has a Mako Point, and the room at the end of the hall has a guy hiding behind a box, and an Omega Report. Backtrack, and go down the stairs in the main room. Two snipers and a dog-guard will come after you, so kill them, and enter the hall to the east. There's nothing in the small sideroom, but the room at the end of the hall contains this stage's last Omega Report.

Head back across the main room to the other hall. The sideroom contains a case with 800 gil, and the room at the end of the hall will lead you into a nice little ambush, so be ready. When the enemies are gone, go through the next door and down the hall. There will be some enemies waiting for you in the next room, as well as some machine-gun bullets. As you move to open the next door, another soldier will run out at you, so be ready to fire. Go through the door and kill the two soldiers hiding behind the boxes on the left, then head into the next room for a potion and into the hallway. The door at the end of this hallway is locked, so don't bother. Instead, go through the small door at the beginning of the hallway on your left.

Time for a cutscene. Vincent finds himself in Lucrecia's old lab, and is assaulted by memories again. The poor guy definitely has issues. But before he can make sense of it, Vincent runs into Rosso again who tells him about Weiss, Deepground's leader and his plans. Geez... Rosso's got some issues too... Rosso flees and Vincent pursues, but before he can catch her, he comes face to face with a mechanical monstrosity.

When you have control again, follow it. Be careful to avoid the mines it left behind. When you reach the room before the hallway, you'll find that a Shop Kiosk has mysteriously appeared. I wonder what that could mean? Resupply if you need to, and go through the door. When you get to the large door in the middle of the hall, a cutscene will occur and the game will Auto-Save. Boss time!

------ Boss Battle ------

Boss: Black Widow

This guy's not too bad as long as you keep an eye on him. Stay back behind the pillars at the back of the room, so that when he charges you, you can dart behind one of them and block him. Look out for his laser cannon... when you see it preparing to fire, run. It will sweep laterally, and if you stand still, you WILL get hit.

Eventually Black Widow will start climbing the walls. Shoot it until it falls, and then save your ammo until it rights itself (because for some reason you can't damage it when it's down).

I like to use my machine gun in this battle. The Long Barrel will give it a bit more accuracy and range, and the Power Booster will give it a little more oomph. Toss on a Fire Materia for good measure.

-------------------------

When the battle is over, Rosso will come out of nowhere, and severly wound Vincent, stealing the Protomateria embedded in his chest in the process. She is just about to finish him off, when a mysterious ninja dressed as a Moogle comes to his rescue. Now who could that possibly be? Rosso isn't happy and vows that if Vincent survives, next time she'll make sure he doesn't.
