Illegal Activities In FFXI Declining

According to the Special Task Force, that was set up to uncover those involved in illegal acts and violate the User Agreement in Final Fantasy, these activities are on the decline.

Their report for the period between February 21 to March 25, viewable at PlayOnline, seems to suggest that the Square Enix team are hard at work to make FFXI the enjoyable experience it should be.

As the period of the report is only a month, obviously the figures will be more favourable of showing a clampdown. However Square Enix have countermeasures to ensure that all violators will be found out.

Apparently the recently released March version update including some things that countered various illegal acts- such as fishing and mining locations which were being exploited by low level characters.

I found this rather shocking but not suprising...

As has been mentioned in previous Special Task Force reports, problems regarding third party access to players' account information have become more and more common. Even if ones account is compromised only once, all of that player's characters could be deleted and all gil and items lost.
Viewing suspicious web sites linked on gaming websites or blogs, as well as downloading files from these sites, is believed to be the main cause of this unauthorized access. A player's computer becomes infected with a Trojan horse or keylogger and before he realizes it, his PlayOnline ID and password have been stolen.
We are currently working on a method to restore edited account details and lost items, but there are a few preventative measures to help protect ones account. The following are a few such countermeasures that Windows users can use to protect against unauthorized access.

Sure it`ll be fixed in seconds............

Any word on how it`s running on X360? i`ve been planning to wire my 360 live so i can attend, expensive but worth it in the end i think!

Youch that sucks .

I never played FFXI because I found it quite difficult to even make an account when I attempted it in 2004. An old friend of mine has played it, but she told me she never liked it because from her experience, she had problems with the Japanese players who were being elitists with her and what not. So because of that she told me it wasn't worth the trouble XD.

What do you guys think?

Interesting, is there a version on any console for that matter that actually anyone could recommend? Or is Square Enix like doing any online activities on other future titles? Haven`t been following up on information surrounding that matter... sorry:)
