N.A. release date for Final Fantasy XII... plus a bonus!

For some time now, the U.S. release of Final Fantasy XII has been set for a vauge "October 2006". Well, Square Enix has finally gotten around to giving us an exact date. In fact, the release of XII will coincide with everyone's favorite candy-collecting, TP-tossing holiday. That's right... Final Fantasy XII's coming out on Halloween.

Square Enix announce today that Final Fantasy XII will hit North American shelves on October 31, 2006. So after a night of frightening small children and binging on candy corn, you can just plop yourself down in front of you PS2 and enjoy the latest Final Fantasy installment.

SE also announced that a limited run of the FINAL FANTASY XII Collector's Edition will be available exclusively at GameStop and EB Games stores (and via their online stores as well). Specially packaged, the game will come with a bonus DVD offering Japanese and American promotional trailers, developer interviews, an art gallery, and featurettes focusing on the Final Fantasy franchise.

The game will retail for U.S.$49.99 for the regular edition and U.S.$59.99 for the Collector's Edition.

Squenix is deliberately attempting to destroy a holiday by releasing their game on the same day. What kid is going to go out for candy when he has Final Fantasy XII at home?

Not me! I'm going to turn up my volume to its highest and then ignore the little kiddies when they come to my door. Bwhaha.

Unless they're skipping out on the candy and playing it too. xD

But I'm just going to pay for the regular version. The extra thing doesn't sound like it's really worth the $10, especially since I can always find its contents online.

I might if EB's got any extra in stock. But I've already pre-ordered my copy, and I can't be arsed to change it from the regular version to the special edition. Now if it came with a Play Arts figure or something... ;)

This is quite possibly the best article I've ever on the internet, ever, for that one single paragraph alone.

Now we just need a European date... I'm going to cry if I have to wait until 2007...

Common trend tends to be that we get some of the features that eventually end up on the "International" versions that come out in Japan after the game's initial release. There probably will be some extras, though I wouldn't put it down as being guaranteed.
