Before all you FFVII fans jump up and start dancing for joy, you might want to read what the guy actually said. CVG (that's computerandvideogames.com) recently conducted an interview with Hiromichi Tanaka, producer of the Final Fantasy III remake for Nintendo DS. Though the interview was primarily about FFIII, the success of the game, and how awesome it is on the DS, the interviewer eventually delved into the question of Square Enix's plans for remaking it's various titles. At one point, the following question was posed: "A lot of people are asking whether Final Fantasy VII will ever be available on DS?" Tanaka responded with, "The main thing is the timing. If we have time it is possible to do a remake of an original game but because we are at the time where the machines are changing with Wii, 360 and PS3 coming out, the development team tends to work on these games so that's the way things are going at the moment. This is the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy III." Hrm... Well, it's certainly not a denial. And it's not the standard "we are not planning a remake at this time" response Square usually gives us... sadly, it's not a definitive "Yes, we'll eventually get around to it", either.
