There have been rumours over the past few days of this, but today Square Enix confirmed it- a remake of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (GBA) to be brought to the PS2 in America. It will be known as Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories and be the price of $29.99. It wont be the same package that Japan got though- it wont have the Kingdom Hearts Final Mix Plus, hence the low price. The voice cast are set to return too. Press Release: Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of Square Enix® interactive entertainment products in North America, and Disney Interactive Studios, announced today that KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories will be released for North American audiences on December 2, 2008. KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories is the essential piece that bridges the gap between KINGDOM HEARTS and KINGDOM HEARTS II. Originally released in 2004 for Game Boy® Advance, this full 3D rendition on the PlayStation®2 has never been released in North America — this is an entry in the KINGDOM HEARTS saga that fans of the series can’t miss! STORY Sora, Donald and Goofy travel down a long road that meanders through endless fields, and come to a crossroads. As Sora stands in the crossroads, he gazes up at the night sky and thinks of his lost friends. Just then, a mysterious man approaches from down one of the branching paths. "Ahead lies something you need," he says, "but to claim it, you must lose something dear." The man vanishes before a single path, leading to a castle that eerily resembles a girl's drawing... In the coming journey, what will Sora and his companions gain, and what will they lose? Read more at the source link. Source: Kotaku Add to Digg |

That's interesting, You think they'll scrap the card system since they're doing the PS2 remake? I mean it wasn't bad but it caught a lot of people off guard at first. So the same voice cast is back too, awesome. Though since CoM was the in between for 1 and 2 won't HJO (Sora) sound older in this one then KH2 O.o the fans really won't care much, Ill still play it regardless. Its some good filler to play until KH3 comes out...(perhaps PS3 might be able to cling to the exclusive rights on that one before XB360 takes it like it did with FFXIII. Then again a double port wouldn't be so bad) Sorry for going off subject btw.

I just find it odd that they wouldnt include Final Mix + with this, it would make money guaranteed. But its there call.

It doesn't make any sense indeed. I mean, how hard is it to release the International versions of FFX, X2 and XII, really? Or the Final Mixes of KH and KH2? Seriously, Square USA... But I'm glad we're getting Re: CoM anywayz. I just started getting into the KH series recently (finally finished the original KH recently) and I thought it would be a good idea to play CoM before moving to KH2 since it's a direct sequel to KH and precursor to the events of KH2. |

Very true. Maybe they think it too much hassle for translation, getting voice cast together for overseas etc. But boy would they sell. |

If they can't get the voice cast together, they could simply not use voice acting during the added scenes. In those scenes, they could be using subtitles instead. I know it's a bit awkward, but I'd rather have a bit less than nothing...
